Myelography CPT Coding Updates: Effects of 4 New Codes and Unintended Consequences.
نویسندگان
چکیده
The Current Procedural Terminology of the American Medical Association has recently introduced coding changes for myelography with the introduction of new bundled codes. The aim of this review was to help neuroradiologists understand these code changes and their unintended consequences and to discuss various scenarios in which permutations of various codes could occur in clinical practice.

Accuracy of CPT evaluation and management coding by family physicians.
BACKGROUND Limited data are available on physicians' accuracy in coding for their services. The purpose of this study was to determine the current procedural terminology (CPT) evaluation and management coding accuracy of family physicians and define demographic variables associated with coding accuracy. METHODS Six hundred randomly selected active members of the Illinois Academy of Family Phy...
متن کاملSome Multidimensional Unintended Consequences of Telehealth Utilization: A Multi-Project Evaluation Synthesis
Background Telehealth initiatives have bloomed around the globe, but their integration and diffusion remain challenging because of the complex issues they raise. Available evidence around telehealth usually deals with its expected effects and benefits, but its unintended consequences (UCs) and influencing factors are little documented. This study aims to explore, describe and analyze mult...
متن کاملAn efficient secure channel coding scheme based on polar codes
In this paper, we propose a new framework for joint encryption encoding scheme based on polar codes, namely efficient and secure joint secret key encryption channel coding scheme. The issue of using new coding structure, i.e. polar codes in Rao-Nam (RN) like schemes is addressed. Cryptanalysis methods show that the proposed scheme has an acceptable level of security with a relatively smaller ke...
متن کاملExpert agreement in Current Procedural Terminology evaluation and management coding.
BACKGROUND Available data suggest that physicians are accurate in approximately 55% of Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) evaluation and management (E/M) coding for their services. This accuracy is relative to observers' or auditors' assigned codes for these services, a group that has not been studied for their consistency in application of the CPT E/M coding guidelines. The purpose of this s...
متن کاملRVUs and DRGs: do they fairly reimburse physicians and hospitals and incentivize improved care?
In 1989, Congress enacted the Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act, which authorized the Health Care Financing Administration to adopt the use of relative value units (RVUs) as the basis for Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement to physicians. Each RVU is related to the complexity of the services by a defined current procedural terminology (CPT) code, and each has 3 components: (1) physician work RV...
